Adult Summer Reading Program

June 1 - August 31, 2022
Read books and win prizes! Every five books you read this summer will earn you a raffle ticket to win one of our great prizes - earn up to five raffle tickets (25 books read). Register and track your reading online at, or stop by the library to pick up a reading record to track your reading on paper and let us take care of the computer stuff. Prize drawings will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Outdoor Concert: The BriTins

Beloved local band the BriTins will play hits from the Beatles, from "Love Me Do" to "Let It Be," recreated on authentic Beatles gear. Bring your lawn chair and settle in for a fun evening! Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Cudahy Lions Club.

Charles Dickens, author, playwright, actor and social activist, was indeed a master of characters. Many of his characters were drawn from life. Meet Catherine Dickens, his long-suffering wife and mother of ten children. Mrs. Dickens will relate her life with “Charlie” as he becomes perhaps England's greatest author.
This event will be held in the Suzann E. Collins Gathering Place. 

Outdoor Concert: SuperFly

Come rock out with SuperFly, the ultimate high-energy party band, featuring non-stop party and dance hits from a variety of musical styles and eras, including classic rock, pop rock, funk, disco, country and southern rock. Come hungry! Tasty Mexican food will be available for purchase from Lala's Place (cash only, please). Adult beverages will be sold by the Friends of Cudahy Library. Don't forget your lawn chair!

Local Author Talk: Karen Lee Boren

Cudahy-born author Karen Lee Boren will discuss and read from her new book, Secret Waltz. The book is set in a fictionalized Cudahy in the 1960s and follows four friends who are growing up together, discovering themselves, and learning what it means to be an adult. Boren has written two other books, Mother Tongue and Girls in Peril. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island, and teaches writing at Rhode Island College. Copies of her books will be available for purchase.

Cudahy Family Library announces a partnership with, to offer free Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) practice tests. The new service includes free tests specifically based on the state’s DMV materials. It is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that let users hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask portions of the screen for greater visibility on the practice tests.
